However, before you invest in hiring or buying a trailer, it’s important to think about the scenarios in which you hope to use it. Here is a little extra information to help you decide where each cable drum trailer might be utilised best.
On the road?
Our highway range of cable drum trailers are the lightest of all our trailers, with our CD140 trailer carrying a potential payload of up to 5,200kg. As stated last time, these trailers only have one axle and are fully equipped to drive with a full load across the UK and most European roads, boasting braking and lighting along with a maximum towing speed of 100km/h (62mph), making them perfect for the standard motorway.
With their light weight and ease on the road, our highway range are predictably best at roadside applications such as installing underground cables. For this reason, they could perhaps be combined with cable blowing equipment.
On a camp site?
Similar to the highway range, the site range cable drum trailers are single axle with braking and lighting features. While their potential payload is higher, site range trailers are marginally slower, travelling at speeds up to 40km/h.
With their slightly lower towing speed and higher payload, site range trailers are best used in slower, more populated environments such as travelling across grass on a busy camp site where there are other people nearby.
On a construction site?
Multi axle cable drum trailers are used to carrying extremely heavy payloads of up to 50,000kg and are more suited for industrial size cable drums. Due to the extremely large weights that they are expected to carry, they are also our slowest range with a maximum speed of between 10km/h and 20km/h.
The sheer durability of multi axle cable drum trailers makes them excellent for demanding industrial applications, such as a construction or building site full of heavy machinery.
