Which Trailer Mounted Winch fits your project?
Here at Rotrex Winches, we pride ourselves on our impressive range of trailer winches, which includes twin bullwheel, drum, capstan and cable recovery winches. However, with so many models of trailer mounted winches to hire or buy, it can be difficult to know which one to use.
Each model of winch offers slightly different advantages; that’s why it’s wise to make sure that you’re fully informed about different options before you buy or hire. To help you make your decision, here’s more information about the different types of trailer winches we have available:
OMAC twin bullwheel winches
Our OMAC twin bullwheel winches are petrol or diesel powered. Ranging in pulling power from 2 tonnes to a hefty 60 tonnes, these trailer winches are excellent for installing underground cables or pipes. Equipped with a handy single control lever, the hydraulic circuit of these winches allows them to be controlled in both directions at a variable speed. These twin bullwheel winches are also fitted with rope spooling gear to make sure that the wire rope is evenly layered on the drum.
One of our winches, the 10t OMAC twin bullwheel tracked comes mounted on rubber caterpillar tracks, allowing it to travel across all terrains with ease. It also has a remote control for moving the equipment across site.
OMAC drum winches and other winches
We also offer a range of drum winches, designed for both hauling and lifting applications, ranging between 2.5 tonnes and 10 tonnes of power. These drum winches can be used to install pipes and cables as well as to lift materials and equipment.
Some of our trailer winches are even more versatile. One excellent OMAC winch that we stock is the F420 100 C (model 5B), an open capstan winch with hydraulic take-off points, which can be used to power ancillary cutters and a pump. While this winch is designed specifically to extract copper wires from ducts to free up duct space, it can be used to remove any wire, provided that it has a bend radius of 325mm diameter.
Other manufacturers
Some of the other powerful types of trailer winch we offer our customers include winches by manufacturers such as Volta, Thompson and Grundotug. For example, the Thompson Assist is a pulling trailer winch with an independent hydraulic power pack powering a capstan wheel with an adjustable drive. If you can’t afford a brand new one, we have reconditioned ones available to buy.
